No More Music for my Big Brain

I’ve moved all my music to an external hard drive and I’m not going to listen to music on my computer ever again. Actually, I could have just deleted it to save space. The reason I’m doing this is that music is a major distraction. It might as well make you stupid or reduce testosterone, but I’m not sure about that.

People nowadays listen to music and watch TikTok non-stop and then wonder why they’re drained and can’t focus on anything for longer than five seconds. I used to do that (well, not TikTok, lol, but, as it it turns out, constantly listening to music is just as bad). Can’t allow that anymore, because I’m doing much big brain work.

That is not to say I’m not going to listen to music at all. Of course I am, although I could ditch it altogether and reach enlightenment like some islamists, but I guess I’m not ready for that yet. For now, the main goal is to separate music from my normal thought process. With that in mind, I see ultimately two ways I can listen to music:

  1. On a live show. This is actually based since you not only go out and meet other people, but also pay much more attention to the music than you would while casually listening to it while doing something else.
  2. When I’m not doing any mind work and specifically decide to listen to music. But no mind work at that time.

I might even get a vinyl player or some other physical music device. Also, since I still have all that music on my hard drive, I’m considering making an autonomous music station using some spare SBC or a laptop.

I share this because some people might quit porn, social media and other “dopamine traps” or whatever normies call it and yet fail to notice that constant exposure to music does the same to them what all those bad habits do. Try limiting your music consumption yourself, you will suddenly feel better and more aware.
